Rules of the Challenge

  • PacificLight’s 2026 Sustainable Cities Challenge (Tertiary Edition) (“the Challenge”) is open to all tertiary level students studying in Singapore’s junior colleges, polytechnics, Institute of Technical Education (ITE) and/or private tertiary educational institutions of equivalent.
  • All preliminary submissions must be registered online by 11:59PM on Monday, 24 August 2026. 
  • All preliminary submissions must be submitted via the 2026 Sustainable Cities Challenge Entry Submission page.
  • Submission requirements:
    • Participants are to work in teams consisting of 2 to 4 (maximum) members.
    • Each team may only submit one entry in one Challenge category
      • Sustainable Fashion
      • Responsible Food Product
  • The project proposal and any supporting document must be submitted together in the following format:
    • File Type: PDF
    • File size: not to exceed 20MB
  • Submission must be an original creation. Original creation means it has been created directly and personally by the participant(s). Direct copying or imitating another person’s work is not considered an original submission.
  • If PacificLight has reason to believe that a submission is not original, evidence may be requested from the participant(s).  Any submission that is not considered original in nature will be rejected and disqualified from the Competition.
  • It is the legal responsibility of the participant(s), not PacificLight, to ensure compliance with all ownership and copyright requirements to reproduce any images, diagrams, or visual representations used. For any information quoted or referenced from third-party source in the submission, the source should be cited by the participants.
  • By submitting an entry to the Competition, participant(s) hereby represent and warrant that the submission does not and shall not knowingly infringe any copyright or any other relevant rights of any party or third party.
  • It is the submitter’s responsibility to ensure that team members’ details provided are accurate and complete, and that consents have been given by each team members for the purpose of submitting an entry for the Competition.
  • All submissions require a completed Parent Consent Form (for participants below 18 years old) or Consent Form (for participants 18 years old and above) in the following format. Entries without a completed parent/guardian consent form or consent form shall be disqualified.

  • By submitting an entry to the Challenge, participants consent to grant PacificLight an unlimited worldwide, royalty-free, non-exclusive license to display, use and reproduce the participant’s work at the prize presentation ceremony and showcase exhibitions, PacificLight and/or Crea8 Sustainability events, and for any and all of PacificLight’s purposes including its advocacy of sustainability.
  • All uses of the submission will be non-commercial, and participants will be credited.
  • The team retains all copyright to  their original submission, including any original drawings, illustrations or photos created by the team and its members.
  • By submitting an entry, the participants provide consent to PacificLight to refer to their name and school for the purpose of identifying them as the creator of the submission.
  • Any false representation, erroneous information, or violation of these rules and regulations or general objectives of the competition (such as receiving help to create the submission), will result in immediate disqualification of the participant from the Competition.
  • PacificLight shall act an intermediary between the shortlisted teams and its working partners for the scheduling of the Learning Journey workshop.
  • Decisions on the winning submissions in both the preliminary phase and finalist phase will be made by a judging panel comprising of representatives from PacificLight, its working partners and third parties that PacificLight might choose to engage. The judges’ decision is final and non-negotiable.
  • Prizes for the winners are as follows:
    ○ Champion team –          Trophy , Certificate of Achievement and $600 e-CapitaStar vouchers
    ○ 1st Runner-up team –   Trophy, Certificate of Achievement and $400 e-CapitaStar vouchers
    ○ 2nd Runner-up team – Trophy, Certificate of Achievement and $200 e-CapitaStar vouchers
  • At their discretion, judges may award up to 2 Merit mentions. Members from the Merit teams will each receive a Certificate of Merit.
  • Up to five (5) shortlisted teams from each Challenge category proceeding to the Finalist phase of the Challenge will be notified via email based on the contact provided in entry submission by 24 August 2026.
  • Winning teams from the Challenge will be notified via email based on the contact provided in the entry submission by 19 October 2026.  The prize presentation ceremony will be held on 31 October 2026.

  • The Challenge is not open to children/wards of PacificLight Power Pte Ltd or PacificLight Energy Pte Ltd employees or supporting partners.
  • Confidentiality obligation: Any information provided to the team and its members may be deemed sensitive and/or confidential. Each participant shall ensure the confidentiality and safe-keeping of such information, and agrees that he/she
    (a) Shall not use the information for any purpose other than in furtherance of these rules; (b) shall not share or disclose this information, materials or documents (information) with any persons who are not authorised to have this information without prior written permission from PacificLight; (c) shall not published and/or communicate such information without prior written permission from PacificLight; (d) shall take every reasonable step to prevent unauthorised parties from examining and/or copying any such information. This Confidentiality obligation shall apply both during and after the
    Challenge until such time that PacificLight terminates the obligation.
  • By submitting an entry to the Challenge, participants agree to be bounded by the condition of entry, including consent to the collection of their personal data to conduct the competition and agree that PacificLight may, for this purpose, collect use, and/or disclose the personal data in accordance with the condition of entry. All rules and regulations, and instructions issued by PacificLight from time to time will be deemed incorporated in these conditions. PacificLight reserves the right to amend the condition of entry, at any time, without prior notice.
