COMPETITION RULES (PRIMARY)

  • PacificLight’s 2026 Crea8 Sustainability Competition (“the Competition”) is open to all primary students studying in Singapore at any MOE-registered primary school, and/or international educational institutions and home schoolers.
  • All submissions must be registered online at submission entry page by 11:59pm on Monday, 6 April 2026.
  • The competition is open to participants from Primary 1 to Primary 6:
    • Participants are to select an everyday item that is commonly thrown away and redesign it into a new creation, with an option to creatively incorporate other recycled materials:
      • A useful object; or
      • A toy or game; or
      • A tool that encourages, reduces or reuse waste.
  • Submission requirements:
    • The physically re-designed item must not be bigger than 90cm (l) x 90cm (w) x 10cm (h) in size. Physical submissions larger than the specified measurements may be disqualified.
    • The re-designed item should be of original creation. Original creation means it is created directly and personally by the student. Direct copying or imitating another person’s work is not considered an original submission.
    • A short write-up explaining the following in not more than 300 words is required to support the submission
      • What the original item was before the re-design. (Mandatory)
      • What is has been redesigned into and how it encourages re-use. (Mandatory)
      • Include drawings of the re-designed item with labels. (Optional)
    • Each submission must include the following to be submitted via the registration portal in the specified format:
      • A photograph of the re-designed item
        • JPG/PDF
        • Upload File size: Not exceeding 20MB
      • A short write-up of the re-designed item
        • PDF 
        • Upload File size: Not exceeding 5MB (inclusive of drawings)
  • For submissions made by a teacher on behalf of student(s), a completed and signed Parent Consent Form must be uploaded together with the submission form to meet legal requirements for minors. Any submission without a completed and signed Parent Consent Form will result in disqualification. The Parent Consent Form must be uploaded in the format specified below

  • Each participant may only submit one entry to the Competition. Multiple entries from the same participant will be disqualified.
  • It is the submitter’s responsibility to ensure that participant(s) details are entered correctly to the best of his/her knowledge.
  • Submissions will be considered successful only when all required details, together with a photograph of the participant’s project and the accompanying explanation write-up, have been fully uploaded.
  • If PacificLight has reason to believe that a submission is not original, it may request evidence. Any submission that is not considered original will be rejected or disqualified from the Competition.
  • By submitting an entry to the Competition, the participant hereby grants PacificLight an unlimited worldwide, royalty-free, non-exclusive license to use, reproduce, display, prepare derivative works of any and all submitted works in any and all media, whether now known or hereinafter created, throughout the world in connection with PacificLight’s purposes including its advocacy of sustainable energy use.
  • All uses of the submission will be non-commercial, and participants will be credited.
  • The participant retains all copyright to their original submissions.
  • By submitting an entry, a participant provides consent for PacificLight to make reference to their name and school for the purpose of identifying them as the creator of the submission.
  • Any false representation, erroneous information, or violation of these rules and regulations or general objectives of the competition (such as receiving help to create the submission), will result in immediate disqualification of the participant from the Competition.
  • Entries will be judged based on the participant’s originality, creativity and relevance to the theme.
  • Decisions on the winning submission for each category will be made by a judging panel comprising of PacificLight staff and third parties that PacificLight may choose to engage. The judges’ decision is final.
  • The Competition is open to all Primary students studying in Singapore. Winners will be awarded within 2 groups – Lower Primary: Primary 1 to 3 and Upper Primary: Primary 4 to 6.
  • Prizes for each group are as follows:
    • Champion            –  $200 POPULAR vouchers, trophy and Certificate of Award
    • 1st Runner-up    –  $150 POPULAR vouchers, trophy and Certificate of Award
    • 2nd Runner-up   – $100 POPULAR vouchers, trophy and Certificate of Award
    • Up to 3 Merit winners – $50 POPULAR vouchers and Certificate of Award each
  • At their discretion, judges may award up to 4 Honourable Mentions. Certificates of Award will be awarded for Honourable Mentions.
  • Winners will be notified via email based on the email provided in the entry submission in May 2025.
  • Selected winners will be required to provide their original submissions to:

  • Original submissions will be returned to the winners after the ceremony.

  • The Competition is not open to the children/wards of PacificLight Power Pte Ltd or PacificLight Energy Pte Ltd employees or supporting partners.
  • By submitting an entry to the Competition, participants hereby represent and warrant that the submission does not and shall not knowingly infringe any copyright or any other relevant rights of any party or third party.
