  • PacificLight’s 2020 Crea8 Sustainability Youth Eco-Reporter Competition (“the Competition”) is open to all students studying in Singapore at a MOE-registered secondary school, any private and/or international educational institution and homeschoolers.
  • All entries must be submitted by 11:59 pm on Monday, 25 April 2020.
  • Registration will be considered as complete when all of the required details have been provided.
  • Each student/group may submit only one photograph OR video, accompanied by a title and 200-word write-up in the registration form.
  • Submission must be relevant to one of the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDG).
  • Participants must ensure that the photograph or video:
    1. does not include content that is inappropriate, misleading, injurious and/or contrary to the public interest of Singapore;
    2. does not include content that is intended to, or may, provoke or incite, hatred or discord;
    3. does not deliberately misinterpret the theme;
    4. does not infringe the intellectual property, privacy or other rights or interest of any third party that may result in any liability.
  • Photograph submissions must be made in JPEG /JPG or PDF format and be no larger than 10MB in size.
  • Submission for video-journalism must be a minimum of 1 minute and a maximum of 3 minutes in duration presented in either of the following forms – (a) documentary (b) educational or (c) information styled video.
  • Participant submitting the videos must upload their video to a YouTube account. The settings of the video should be set to “unlisted” so that it is not available for public viewing or found via search engines. Participants are encouraged to restrict details of the URL to those directly involved in the competition submission process. 
  • The entry must comply with YouTube’s applicable guidelines. Entries that are uploaded on YouTube that do not comply with such guidelines will be disqualified. 
  • YouTube is not a sponsor of the Competition, and each participant hereby agrees to release YouTube from any and all liability related to the Competition.
  • Participants can enter individually or form teams of up to three members.
  • It is the legal responsibility of the participant, not PacificLight, to ensure compliance with all ownership and copyright requirements to reproduce the photograph or video submitted for this Competition.
  • By submitting an entry, a participant agrees:
    • to give PacificLight an unlimited worldwide, royalty-free, non-exclusive license to broadcast, display, archive, screen and reproduce the photograph or video in various media and public platform including, but not limited to website, social media.
    • that PacificLight may the participant’s name, age and school for the sole purpose of identifying the participant as the creator of the photograph or video.
  • Any false representation, erroneous information, or violation of these rules and regulations or general objectives of the competition will result in immediate disqualification of the participant(s).
  • Kindly check that the participant(s) details are entered correctly and email(s) provided are valid.
  • Entries will be judged based on the participants’ content execution, relevance, originality, creativity and videography (for video-journalism).
  • Decisions on the winning photographs or videos will be made by a judging panel comprising staff from PacificLight and their supporting partners. The judges’ decisions are final.
  • The Youth Eco-Reporter Competition will be divided into 2 categories – Secondary 1 and 2 (Lower Secondary) and Secondary 3 to 5 (Upper Secondary).
  • Prizes will be awarded for each category
    • 1st prize   – $200 book vouchers and trophy
    • 2nd prize – $150 book vouchers and trophy
    • 3rd prize –  $100 book vouchers and trophy
  • Winning photographs and videos, and the associated write-ups may be used, reproduced, showcased and screened for broadcast by PacificLight and/or their supporting partners in a range of media including but not limited to website, microsite and social media accounts i.e. Facebook, LinkedIn, in paid media and in conjunction with any activity related to PacificLight that may be organized.
  • Winners will be notified via email by 30 May 2020.
  • The prize presentation will be held in Quarter 3 of 2020. Further details on the date, time and venue of the prize presentation will be provided to the winners nearer to the date.
  • Any competition entry found to be a plagiarism of similar photography and broadcast work by another person shall be disqualified.
